Hansraj Morarji Public School traces its lineage to the Bai Kabibai and Hansraj Morarji Charity Trust. In the mid-1920s, philanthropist Seth Hansraj Morarji and his wife Bai Kabibai donated their wealth to education and charity, leading to the establishment of the Trust in 1930.
Shri K.M. Munshi founded Hansraj Morarji Public School in June 1939 in Bombay with 50 students, aiming to provide quality education. In 1938, he acquired land in Andheri, where Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel laid the foundation stone for the hostel in 1940. The school moved to its Andheri campus in 1941, but due to World War II, it was temporarily relocated to Vadtal, Gujarat, and later to Worli, Bombay. It returned to Andheri in 1946 and the new building was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1962. The school was visited by prominent figures like Rajagopalachari, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad.
The Bai Kabibai and Hansraj Morarji Charity Trust has expanded its educational presence with two campuses in Mumbai: one at Fort and one at Andheri. At the Fort Campus, the Trust runs Bai Kabibai English School and Junior College, established in 1981 and affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board.
The Andheri Campus, known as the Hansraj Morarji Public School Campus, houses five schools and a wide range of sports facilities. These include:
What began as an initiative to introduce a new curriculum (ICSE) grew into a beacon of education, transforming lives and inspiring success with commitment and perseverance. The school has grown, adapting to the changing times and expanding its facilities, while remaining true to its core values.
