Vocal Music

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything. At HMPS ICSE, we believe that training in vocal music helps students find their unique voice - both literally and metaphorically.

Why We Offer This Subject
Vocal music training enhances students' confidence, improves memory and concentration, and provides a creative outlet for emotional expression. It also connects them to our rich cultural heritage through classical compositions.

Curriculum Timeline

June-July

Voice Fundamentals

Introduction to proper breathing techniques, voice projection, and basic notes (swaras). Students begin with simple exercises and alankaras to develop voice control.

August-September

Classical Foundations

Learning basic ragas and taals. Introduction to simple compositions like bhajans and folk songs with focus on proper pronunciation and expression.

October-November

Performance Development

Introduction to more complex compositions, working on voice modulation, dynamics, and expression. Preparation for mid-year showcases begins.

December-January

Style Exploration

Exploration of different singing styles including semi-classical and contemporary forms. Focus on developing individual style while maintaining technical precision.

February-March

Performance Mastery

Refinement of all learned techniques and preparation for the annual music concert. Focus on stage presence, microphone techniques, and ensemble singing.
